I am willing to bet that if given the chance you would take the opportunity to make money online. If you are a college student like me this is a particularly alluring concept. Money for college, and all in your spare time. What could be better than that? But there are so many scams, what can you do to navigate the minefield and make sure the money is headed the right direction? Give this a quick thought, what do all of those scams have in common?

They want you to pay them, and they will tell you the secrets to internet marketing, blogging for profit, making money with google adwords, or insert whatever here.

The truth is, if you know where to look you can find all of this information for free on the internet. Not only that, but you may well find it in a more concentrated and complete format. This info is not necessarily easy to find, and it may not be in a glitzy layout, but it is out there. Making money in your spare time can be a reality. It all just comes down to understanding how the internet works as an economic engine. Once you figure out the rules of the game, making money on the internet really isn’t that hard.

One of the easiest ways to make money online is by making money blogging. Why? Because if you do it right you can make money without spending it. ‘But wait!’ you say, ‘that sounds just like a scam. You don’t get something for nothing.’ You know what? You’re absolutely right, and the scams would lead you to believe that’s all there is to it. However, money is only one side of a nicely balanced equation: money=time. The reason you can make money without investing any is because you actually have to work at it. If you want to make money blogging you have to invest time. The amount you invest (and how smartly you use it) will determine your success.

If you need money for college (this would of course work for anyone who needed to make money from home) then blogging could be a saving grace. Paying tuition, buying books, activity fees, its all a bit crazy really. Paying for college can be seem like an insurmountable hurdle, and funds for college can be difficult to come by. Financial aid only goes so far, and student loans can leave you with a mountain of debt before you have even had the chance to get going in life. College scholarships can be hard to come by, and even then they still may not cover all of the expenses. Part time jobs often take up what little time would remain for a full time student. In other words, money for college can have a high opportunity cost – too high I say. If you can make money with blogs (and you can) then jump at it. It’s the best option you have for college money.
